convertor not locking

I've got a fairly new trans in my 01 with a 5 disk convertor. It is lazy locking up and most times I can let off of the throttle and it will lock up when I go back on the throttle. It will be slow to go into overdrive sometimes too. Any ideas?

Lock-up solenoid comes to mind. Besides it, at the rear of the valve body, is the OD solenoid. I had issues with these when a bearing in my OD housing came apart and spread metal throughout the tranny, clogging the ports on the solenoids. For you, could be clogging or could be electrical problem.

I know in my truck which is a 99, which has the 47re should be the same as yours, the tc was designed to disengage when you take your foot off the accelerator, alleged fuel savings. Also the Tc will only lock up at certain speeds, on mine 50 mph, but that can be adjusted a little bit by rotating the APPS sensor either a little more clockwise, or counter clockwise, dependant on the original voltage. Do a search on APPS or accelerator pedal position sensor, and some people have posted good values for voltages and what increasing or decreasing the value will due. It is easy, and i have done it before, doesn't take much time.

Also what do you mean slow into lock up, the actual act of locking up, or how long it takes for the truck to decide it is going to start to lock up?
