The point to this is idling up wasn't about warmth primarily, as it was to keep from developing "slobber" as it was called. Don't know what it was made out of, but it was like liquid and would spit out the stacks. That's why, as all the mechanics told me, not to idle at less than 1,000-1,200 RPM. Maybe worth investigating.

That is what is refered to as wet stacking. Its basically unburnt fuel from low combustion temps. It builds up on the valve stems too. To much of it can gunk up and bind the valve, never a good thing. This is why prolonged low idling can be a bad thing.

do 2000's have the high idle already in the ecm awaiting activation? also, whats yall's opinions on warming the truck in nt-so-cold temps as in above 0*? how long should i let it run before i go?

Late 2001's and 2002's are the only ones that came with the high idle ready for activation.

A cheap way to raise your combustion temps and raise up the idle is to use a stick. Wedge it between the seat and the pedal. Works good.
