I have a 02 that is hard to start, truck cranks and cranks like it has air in the fuel line. I checked the codes and P1693 comes up. I checked the list on here and it says "Generic fault indicating a fault in the bus or PCM/ECM interface" but what does that mean and what do I do to fix this problem.

Truck is a 02 automatic, RV 265 injectors, edge comp, airdog 150, ATS tranny with co-pilot.

1693 is a companion code. Most times you get that code, there is something else going on. You could bleed #1 injector and see if that does anything. Your VP could be on its way out. That can go without any codes sometimes.

 

Funny you mention that. My 01 started one morning, shut if off and will not fire at all. No codes or anything. Lift pump is pegging the FP gauge when running. Oh well it is the original IP with close to 400k on it.
