The $2500 is to replace the INJECTION pump (VP44), not the lift pump.

Really? I can't afford to have them do either! I guess I'll just fumble my way thru until I get it running again.

$2.5k is an absolute rip-off. 2.5 hours work and $950 and you're done, just order the pump from the web (I am talking VP-44 injection pump, not the lift pump).

I don't know if my VP44 is out until I get the lift pump working. I've had all kinds of codes but the P0216 was the last.

Today we got the pump in place and wired it up. We shot some ether down the intake and had a injector loose and she fired right up. I let it run at idle for about 20 minutes. No stalling or quitting or anything!

I drove it around the block which is about a mile or so 10 times and still no problems. Hit the on ramp to the highway at 80 and never looked back. Drove about 15 miles one way and turned around and came back. No problems at all.

I'll drive it around town and see how it acts and if all goes well then I'll take a 100 mile trip and see how it does.

I still haven't found a fuel pressure guage in town so I guess I'll order one on line.

I didn't take any pictures because it was a straight forward installation of cutting the fuel line, inserting the pump, screwing the bracket to the frame and running a wire forward to a hot source. I think I used my head when I tapped into the same wire that powered the bad pump. It is a thick red wire with a black stripe on it. I tapped into it up near the firewall.

I got my APPS in the mail and I will install that sometime this next week. I don't know that I really need it but I bought it so I might as well put it to work!
