Code

I have been trying to find out what is wrong with my truck but still haven't had any luck at it. There is one code that comes up. P-1693 Could some tell me what this code might be?

I think that has something to do with boost or a companion code.

I'll bet someone will post up a link for ya to where the OBD2 codes are listed.
I have it on the home computer.

That is a companion code. All its saying is there is another code in there that you need a scaner to read. Hope its not a bad code.

Are you only getting the 1693 code from the key on/off check? If so you'll have to have a code reader/scanner, to determine main fault code.

Yea, when I turn off and on the key, I only get the P-1693 code. I heard that autozone scanes it for free. Is that true. Or does Napa or some other store do free scanning. Also, if I do get code P-0216, what is that?

Auto Zone will read the codes for free. The P0216 is usually the kiss of death for the VP 44.

Will the P0216 pop up by just using the key or do you have to use a scanner?

If you have a 1693 code, it is the truck computer telling you that the engine computer has a code, the engine codes only can only be ascertained with a scanner,..But dodge was polite enough to have their truck readout at least warn you that your engine has a code.

Where are you located? Maybe someone on this site board is close enough to read your codes. (I'm in l.a. and would be happy to read your codes if you are close) In my area autozone will not read your codes for you (L.A.)..., they want to instead rent you the code reader for **** near the cost of the code reader. Maybe you have to slip them 5 bucks or something. It wouldn't surprize me. But they tell me that most of the county's autozones are civil enough to read your codes for free in hopes to sell you a part afterward.\

got the same code(p1693), but the scanner does not give me any additional codes, any clue? In cali, the autozone rents it, but you have to put a deposit, which will be returned when you take it back.

if your check engine light is not on autozone might have trouble pulling any other codes, I tried to get them to pull, erase mine and without the cel on they could not even get to the 191 code that I know is there from key cycle trick.

You may have to go to dealer to get checked for codes, to make sure you are getting all of them.

I got my truck scanned at autozone and the code that came up was P-0121. It is the APPS. So if you have any questions about what the symptoms of the P-1693 or the P-0121, e-mail me.

Some of my symptoms is that when you are traveling down the road, the motor goes to an idle. I push in the clutch and pump the fuel peddle twice and then it come back. If you have these symptoms e-mail me. Mine is manual too.

Buy the APPS from Cummins......NOT Dodge dealer.

What is the APPS? Is it expensive and/or hard to replace?
