Clutch recommendations please

I think I smoked the clutch in my truck this weekend. I power braked it Thursday evening and slipped the clutch a little in third gear. I let out of it and everything seemed to be fine. Well yesterday I was hauling an unloaded cattle trailer. I was running around 50mph and 1500rpm’s. I was in fifth gear and went to speed up. The RPM’s went up like I had broke the tires loose. “I wish it would do that”. I am hoping it is the clutch and not the transmission. Any thoughts there??
If it is indeed the clutch I need some recommendations please. It is the same truck that is on my sig. I haul a trailer a few times a year loaded around 10K pounds. I also have a bad habit with power braking every now and again. Can you guys recommend a good clutch and a supplier please…?

I called my local ORiellys auto parts store and priced their clutches. They have a standard clutch for $249 and a performance clutch for $389. Do you guys think the standard clutch will work for me?

do yourself a favor and upgrade to a Southbend Con OFE. I found mine used in new condition for $375 and it holds the power that i have. you dont wanna be doing burnouts and launches with any single disk though.

Second the suggestion of the SB Con OFE. You have an '02 like mine, so you should not have to replace the hydraulics - they'll probably hold.

I like my Valair Kevlar/Ceramic single. Rated 500hp, decently smooth for moving trailers around, and pretty affordable.

I guess I never heard that I couldn't do a burnout on a single! LOL Oops too late.

I decided to go with a Southbend Con FE. It's slightly more grabby than stock, and probably also the OFE (never drove a truck with one of those), but I wanted to do the clutch once and wasn't sure the OFE would hold up to where I might eventually end up power-wise.

I've been very happy with my Con FE, and I've been driving it for about 4.5 years now. And yes, I've power braked a little with it.

I had a con OFe up untill I went stupid with "fixing" my motor. Many times I still whish I had it. Both the Fe and OFe are great clutches. Ofe was smooth and easy to back a trailer with.
Heck of alot easier in snow too. With my dual disk I just park it and wait till spring.

I am a big fan of Valair clutches. Their customer service (I always talk to Dan) is unbeatable. I had a 5 spd and upgraded to a six speed flywheel and clutch setup (con OFE). Last night i put an FE in my current truck and I love it. It is very smooth and I'm sure it will hold all the power I have. I am still breaking it in. I have also done plenty burnouts with the con OFE 13" in my old five speed truck. I have nothing but good words for Valair

Pretty sure Con OFE and Con FE are designations for Southbend Clutches.

Valair just calls em by their friction material. Like organic-feramic, or feramic.
