Clutch advise???

Last night late I got stuck!!! I tried getting out and only got my self in worse and finally gave up and went home and got our tahoe with a big strap, a smaller strap and two chains for a total of about 70 feet. I needed all this length just to reach it in the spot I was so, I didnt have two trucks down!! After to hard pulls she came out with a pile of smoke!! The smoke by no means was exhaust it was the clutch. I noticed it starting to smell when I was rocking it so I stopped doing that and thats when I got the other truck. All the smoke came from just driving it out when being pulled out and it was a LOT of smoke! So now I belive I am on barrowed time!! Everything feels just as it was before good grab and solid pedal with no pulsing. What does everyone think what clutch would be recommended? I only plan on maybe some stg 1 or 2 injectors with what I have currently.

Moral of the story: No more short cuts down servise roads for this guy when they are nasty!!! Also with this little adventure I noticed that our tahoe now has a rod knocking this morning!! So now I will have two trucks injured!! No clue how that happened because I was real nice on it when I did it other than snaping on the strap. Oh well it was interesting though.

Also if anyone has any clutches I maybe interested!!!

I think you just heated up your clutch in that mudhole but it might not mean it is shot. Is it slipping during normal driving?
Putting a new clutch isn't too bad if you have to, I put a new one in my 5speed.

Nope no slipping what so ever! feels just as it used to. Seems ok but the truck smelled like burnt clutch for about 3 days after whenever it was running.

From the way you describe it I would say your clutch isn't fully cooked. I got mine a little hot at a truck pull, and the smell hung around for a couple of days. When I replaced my last clutch I could tell it was going bad when it started slipping in high gears (4 or 5) when under sufficient load (towing or pulling a good hill). That's when you will know that it is toast.

I got stuck in a bad mudhole (had to get the tractor to get out) & I thought I had burned up my clutch too, but it was just hot.
