Check Engine light
Check Engine light
Will the clutch slipping trigger the check engine light?? Mine is now on after a rather weird start from a stop sign. In third gear the truck jerked three or four times. I still had 14psi fuel pressure and normal EGTS and Boost when I got to third gear an went on down the road bu now the CEL is on.

Ryan, if the CEL popped on for anything strange, then after 3 start up with no computer errors, on the fourht start up it should go out. Wait it out, if the light stays on then you might want to get the computer read. Let us knw what happens<br><br>Ricki<br>

Had the codes read at the Zone.<br>P0252 - Injector Pump Fuel Metering Control - No signal<br>P0253 - Injector Pump Fuel Metering Control - Open Circuit<br><br>Per DCX for code P0252 - reset codes and test drive. If code reappears replace injector pump. If I don't have a loose wire somewhere this could get expensive.<br><br>

Re:Check Engine light
It is covered by the warranty up to a 100k just like the lift pump unless he tapped the WIRE on the pump. the codes in the book from cummins on vp failure are 264 361 366 367 374 or 376. 373 is fuel pump shut off error

Re:Check Engine light
Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the OBD2 codes with out a code reader. They reset mine when they checked it, I drove it the 2 miles back to work getting into the throttle hard with no problems. When I went to pull out odf the parking lot to come home, I got about 300 feet down the road and the light was on again. When I got home I checked all connections around the pump, the Datalink, and MAP sensor. I then tried disconnecting the batteries for 1/2 hour but the light was back on imediately. I want to try some experiments to try to figure out exactly what causes it to come on before I head to the *******. So far Both time it has been under hard acceleration.
Re:Check Engine light
Ryan I found the p0254 under the fuel pump but that is it. It was under the internal failure section. But that was the closest I could find. I will keep looking. BTW overboost would throw a P0234.

Well they all fall under this
P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Malfunction (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0252 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Range/Performance (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0253 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Low (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0254 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0255 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Intermittent (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0256 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "B" Malfunction (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0257 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "B" Range/Performance (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0258 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "B" Low (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0259 Injection lump Fuel Metering Control "B" High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
P0260 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "B" Intermittent (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
from what I am reading in the Cummins book any of these are linked to a bad fuel pump. My advice take all the stuff you are pleading off and have dodge fix it. BTW the fuel pump(FPCM) is what saves the codes not the ECM.

Re:Check Engine light
More weird happenings with the CEL. After disconnecting the battery for 1/2 hr+ and disconnecting and reconnecting all goodies on Monday and still having the light on I drove the truck to work on Tuesday (no choice) with the light on and the box turned off. We I went to run an errand over lunch the light went out. I have been driving doing some experiments. So far the light is still out and I have driven "hard" with the box off and on the first three settings. I am beginning to think that I may have had a bad connection somewhere that I corrected on Monday eve and the ECM/Fuel Pump needed a full cycling with no error received to reset itself. I am going to experiment with the rest of the settings and see what happens. If it returns at this point I am leaning towards the box having a problem since it if fine with it off and on the first three levels. I'll keep you all posted as to what I find.<br><br>Ryan
