Change Fuel Filter, Help!
Change Fuel Filter, Help!
Ok here's the story, I just got done changing my fuel filter after 10,000 miles. Fuel Pressure in the cab had not droped off but I decieded to change the filter anyway. Took the old one out slipped in the new one closed her back up. Bumped the starter and lift pump ran for normall 30 seconds, but very little pressure was developed. Did this several more times same luck. So I tried to start the truck, she fired right up, and fuel pressure did come back up to 15 psi but took probably 7 seconds longer than with old filter. Now when I turn the key to run I see 2 psi of pressure when I was seeing 15+ psi under the same conditions. Now for the strange part, if I bump the starter fuel pressure will come up to 5 psi, but if I quickly get out and open the water in fuel drain, and lift pump sounds like it comes to life and pressure in cab goes back up to normal 15psi? This all really has me worried!!! How could just a simple filter change make this much difference in start-up pressure? P.S. This all took place in about 15 min, and I measure my pressure post filter if that makes any difference. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I affraid to drive it now.
