Can't read error code?

I get a code when I flash the ignition three times, the one that means there is a code in the computer, but I can't read it with my auto exray 6000 or generic reader? The mil light is off.

Any ideas?

Some codes can only be read by using a DRB/ODB II scantool.

My EZscan does OBDII, CAN, and OBDI, and has always read codes fine.

I know this is a silly question but:

1) have you doublechecked that it was plugged in tight??

2) have you called AutoXRay (I heard they are pretty good about this) and picked their brain about it???

Just my 2 cents worth.

Often the 1693 gets thrown along with a valid code.
After X number of good engine starts without the problem present, the original code gets erased, but the 1693 gets left behind.

Use your scan tool to clear it and see if the 1693 comes back,
if it does, it may be one of the few codes that can only be seen with the high dollar Dealership scanner.

My experience has been that even though I clear all the codes. The 1693 would hang around for about a day or so before disappearing. I'm not sure why.
