Re:can it handle it
well I will tell you now that you will never stop.trust me.
The auto tranny will hold if you take it easy and don't go doing rooling burnouts every day.
The boost guage is only like 30-50 bucks and yes I would have one. this will tell you if your engine is getting sick or not enough fuel. loss of fuel will mean loss of boost. plus you don't want to blow your turbo up.

Re:can it handle it
I ran an Edge EZ for 6 thousand miles on a stock auto without gauges. I did however put on a turnbuckle. I never towed but I didnt baby it, the day I went in for the DTT treatment it shifted as well as the first day I owned it. BUT, they're all different.

Yeah, I can remember saying the same thing.
The EZ should be ok with the stock tranny.
The boost guage tells you how the turbo is working, and if the connector boots have popped off. It can help some with fuel milage. I've found that if I keep the boost low (ie keep my foot out of it, no quick starts and such) I get better milage.

c4l you said you had a turnbuckle on it. maybe this dumb question what is that

i will tow maybe once a week from 3k to the 19k avg about 13k this change anything
Re:can it handle it
As for your gauges, if you add nothing else, add a fuel pressure gauge. It is difficult to express how important this is, especially if you are going to put any high-performance parts on the truck.
I don't know if you have read about it, but the 24v fuel pumps are infamous for their failures, and should be monitored.

Chris

I also thought the EZ was all I needed, until I installed one. :
Now I have a four inch exhaust and guages going in this weekend. ;D After that, just waiting for the tranny to go out so I can do more.

Re:can it handle it
Depends on how you drive for the most part. Stock tranny should handle EZ. My suggestion for what it's worth? At a minimum, replace the Valve Body. Then when you put in injectors, or actually before, aftermarket torque converter. Then when you trade in your EZ for a Comp box, or actually before, update the tranny. Do you see a pattern evolving here? You will never be completely done. It just goes on and on. Kinda like a money pit. But one can't deny the pleasure you will have had along the way.

Roger
Re:can it handle it
Bryan Blue Chip has a new box coming out next week, that is less expensive than the comp or EZ edge, with more HP. Also forget the temp unless you tow ALLOT. 47RE just about never get hot. I push mine all the time. Lets ask everyone a question. Over the last year what temp has your transmission run at? And under what conditions? Do we need a trans temp or not. Most important where did you locate the sensor? If it is in the pan where MagHytec recommends (because it is drilled and taped) this is not accurate. I am finding out that it needs to be in the torque converter line going to the cooler. That is where the highest heat is. The boost is far more important; the fuel would be the highest priority. Bryan,

I put the gauges in June 2002. I put in the Westach EGT/Boost0-50psi Combo, Transmission Temp.,Fuel Pressure 0-30psi. Glad I did, especially the fuel press. gauge. The lift pump went out at about 48 K and the dealer replaced the lift pump under the 100 K warranty. Now I am reading 16 psi at Idle , 13-14 at 70 mph, and min. of 10 psi at WOT. Much better than before they installed the new lift pump.

Before they replaced the lift pump was reading 12 at Idle, 6-8 at 70 mph, and 1-2 at WOT. Then it totally went out!!

IMO, the fuel pressure gauge is the most important gauge, then the Trans. Temp. gauge on the "auto". The others though, are also very helpful in keeping at "eye" of what is going on.

Chose the type "name brand" that you like, but I do recommend gauges to monitor what is going on.

I pull a 30 ft. 5ver and did a 8 K mile trip West last Summer and I am glad I had the gauges installed to monitor temps.

Good Luck!!
