camshaft position sensor

camshaft position sensor

where is the camshaft position sensor on a 01 24 valve is it in the injection pump or part of the electronics of it?

it should be right behind the injection pump. mounted into the front cover i believe. kinda a pain to change with pump installed but can be done from what i understand never had to change one yet though so can't say for sure.

Just below injection pump. You can change it without pulling the VP. Just takes a little work.

Do the 01's have them or was it in 02 that they ran everything off the crank sensor?

I though it was pre 01's that used the crank sensor for everything. I know they won't run with a broken sensor and 3/4 of the tone ring in the oil pan.
