Campaign vs. LP...

Looks like I'm 1 year late on this campaign pump issue. Sorry about be behind the times. But I've got a question for you guys who may know.

Compared to the stock LP, is the campaign pump better?

I know the search is back up, and I was using it finding all kind of good info, and then it stopped working again. I would "search" something, and every time I hit the "search now" button, it just refreshes the search page. I tried waiting 30 seconds, a minute, 2 minutes. Nothing seemed to help.

Do the campaign pumps last longer, the same, have more pressure? Or is it just the same pump with some other changes? Thanks.

- JyRO

P.S. - I called the Cummins service place. These campaign pumps can still be had, but for $161.

the campaign pump is pretty much the same, except if it dies the vp44 will suck fuel thru it, therefore not causing the engine to shut off due to lack of fuel.
the oem pump would die and depending on the cause of failure, would stop fuel flow.... my first lp stopped working but fuel flowed thru it, the check ball spring broke, the second one just got weak

I called Cummins in Houston, bought the camapign pump last year, $65 or so. This year, they want $161.37.
I think you can get the same pump from NAPA, about $100. There may be diffrrences, you may ask NAPA to find out, but i suspect they only make 1 improved pump anymore. But dumber things happen every day.
I would have a gauge & spare. If FP=0, stop & put on the new pump.
It is very easy with the Vulcan kit installed.
It would seem most people with the Campaign pump have had few complaints that I have seen.

I bought this one **Cummins PN 4090046 ** I paid 117$ its susposed to be for a Bus?? or something it looks identical to the OEM I removed, the kicker is Cummins wanted 100$ for the low pressure lite kit and 220 plus $ for the OEM replacement, with the above Part Number the light kit (minus the light bulb) came with the PUMP!!!
I have a mechinical gauge and at first I was seeing 13psi at idle and drawing down to 5psi atWOT, I believe I had air in it, as now it idles at 10or 11psi and draws down to 7psi at WOT and cruses at 9psi at 70miles per hour.
I got the info from a link I found awhile back (might have been from this sight)
My dealer had 2 instock and he was surprised that he had them, I'm thinking I should go back and buy it for a spare.
the kit has the banjo bolt that is threaded for the pressure switch, a short wiring harness, pkg of washers, pressure switch, and a pump that looks identical to the OEM.
the pkg came with a sticker CAMPAIGN 0504, bulletin number 4907663
