Calipers for '99?

Thanx for all info-I just ordered rotors, pads and shoes from Tirerack.com.Will purchase 1-ton wheel cylinders soon. Now my question is: What calipers?Mine are funky-One side wore the outer pad, other side wore out the inner pad!I imagine the caliper is as important as the rest of the stuff I just bought.

Which pads did you get... Hawk??? Any name brand on the rotors? Just want this info for future reference when my time comes.

I have the 1-ton cylinders and love them.

I know you've made your mind up so I'm by telling you that the EGR calipers are blueprinted so you don't have an application pressure difference between passenger and driver sides. After you get some miles on those Hawk pads let me know how they shake out. Like I said a bunch of my buddies swear by them, but they also don't have 99's with brake problems.

Unless the calipers can "float" on the mount you will wear pads unevenly. Just clean the slide surfaces with a die grinder and a wire wheel. No grease.

Hey cored,The rotors are Brembo's and the pads are Hawk.Ive been trying to find NEW calipers but all I can find are re-manned.I cleaned the sliding surfaces till they were smooth as a baby's butt and it didnt seem to help much, pads still wore unevenly!

I always replace the slide pins and rubber bushings with every new set of pads.
Availible most anywhere for under $20 for four.

I had uneven wear on my '99 due to the wheel bearing going out. The caliper is bolted solid with the inner section of the bearing housing, and the rotor is connected to the outter section. When the bearing starts to go, you will get enough wobble that will cause uneven wear.

After searching around denver for new,not rebuilt calipers and finding none,I took advice from smokindog and ordered some blueprinted calipers from EGR.It'll cost me $100.00 more but I think it's a good way to go.
