Block Heater
Block Heater
Are these known tohave a history of going out. I had mine plugged in the other night and when I got up to go to work It still took my truck a while to get the temperature up. I know I had power and the otther reason I ask is because usually when I plug in the heater it will make the climate control heat moderately warm. So what does the brain trust think?
When its really cold out, like in the 30's around here, it takes my truck a long time to risse over 140 on the gauge. Even with the radiator blocked off.
Pop the hood after its sat plugged in a while and touch the thermostat neck. If its warm/hot, your block heater is working.

Remember these trucks have really efficient cooling systems. They have to in order to pull 15K 16K loads. The best way to warm the truck is idle it for 2 or 3 minutes then drive it. I do this in sub zero temps all the time. I simply change gear at about 1600RPM for the next 10 miles. IE dont rev the pi$$ out of it until she gets warm.
Unfortunately I think I might have found my problem. Plugged it in again tonight and my cord is not lighting up showing power. It is a Yellow Jacket. And yes there is power where i am plugging in at because my deep freeze is still running.
