I wasnt in a hurry, and it seemed to tick a lot of people off, even though I was in the right lane. I was on the road for about 4 1/2 - 5 hrs. It was so boring I lost rack of time.
[/quote]
With a chain tied behind an 18 wheeler
Re:Better MPG
Definately add a PE EZ or other Timing/Fueling box. Then bigger injectors (275RV's, DD#2's or Equal) will help MPG if you are Hwy cruising. On most of my Customers trucks this combo averages 10% or more increase. Also if you want a K&N style filter then Buy a AFE Brand. I used to sell the K&N's but they fit the oem box poorly and leak dirt!!
The AFE is MUCH Better quality in several ways. And Only check you Mileage by the Gallons into the tank and Miles driven. The onboard computer is only for Looks and general info. It is farther and farther from reality as you add goodies to your truck.
P.S. Our Dodge trucks get better mileage with the tailgate up.

Re:Better MPG
One of the best and cheapest ways to increase a truck's mileage is by not putting a bed cover on it. :- Leave it open!
Sounds strange, but true. I researched it and, even though it goes contrary to what most folks believe, an open truck bed w/the tailgate in the closed position creates a "bubble" of air that circulates in the bed (kinda like a vortex) that is more aerodynamic in nature than either a bed with a cover or an open bed with the tailgate down.
I now have my almost new bed cover removed and for sale. Happily getting 20-21 mpg (unloaded, interstate driving at 65) vs 18 mpg when the cover was on.
Anyone need a good "Fold a Cover" bed cover for a long bed Ram?

Re:Better MPG
My average MPG with 30,000 miles on my truck in 14 months of driving is 16.29 MPG. This is calculated MPG, I do my calculations every tank fill. This includes towing, empty, freeway and local driving. My best tank was 21.57 my worst was 11.46 MPG. My normal speed when on the highway is in the 70's and I don't take it easy.
Re:Better MPG
Well, here's my story. See sig for full details on truck and BOMBs.
Truck as absolutely bone stock for first 12K miles, except for K&N 0880 cone style air filter. Towing a Toyota 4x4 for about 2000 of those miles. 40 mile round trip to work every day. Work is at about 200' elevation, home is 1800' elevation. Got right on 16.0 MPG regardless of speed travelled.
At 12K miles, installed Edge EZ and DD3 injectors & HX40. Truck now has 69K miles on it, have upgraded EZ to Comp box. Ever since installing the Edge box(es), turbo and DD3's I see ~17 - 17.5 MPG going to work and home, when I get out on the highway for long periods, I have seen as high as 19.2, but usually around 18 - 18.5. This is travelling at between 70 - 85 MPH whenever I can.
I actually have not gone back to determine what, if any difference my Skyjacker 2 1/2" lift made in mileage, but I am curious...
