Yup! 01.5 (has rear disk brakes) or an 02.
Many subtle improvements in the 02 over the 01, but nothing major....and 02's are a lot harder to find?? I always suspected it's because CTD lovers were waiting for the 3rd gens to come out in 03 and passed on the 02's.
Just a guess.... I love mine!

I agree with the 01.5 ............. check for the 53 block though when testdriving.

01, I heard the 01.5 lost some of the cooler options, like rear cup holders and the black ant. So I'm for 01, and I'll swap in the rear discs later!

98-99 they have more molding, fender liners, less plastic. The SLT with leather is very nice interior.

What were the less-important options added in 2002?

I, we, got an 02. with only 9100 miles on it when we purchased it in Nov of 02. Good truck, think is has a cup in the rear seats.

'01.5 Sport. Has rear discs, color matched bumper and the 4 headlight system. Also has the rear cup holders but I cann't ever imagine using them. So far I haven't seen a factory option that mine doesn't have. Even my sister's '01 1500 Laramine doesn't have as much as mine.

Not options... just improvements or changes.

Off top of my head...
-Brighter headlights and tail lights
-improved metalury in exhaust manifold...no more cracks (maybe on 01.5's too?)
-Higher vacuum pressure
-All 02's have latest & greatest Mexican Engine Blocks.... no #53 Brazilian Blocks.
-Illiminated plastic across bottom of tailgate...considered an improvement by some.
-Some change on the Dash... suppose to be less prone to cracking.
-Improved Oil Pressure Sensor-more accurate readings.
-Redesigned MAP Sensor.... maybe just different, not better?
-Different (assume improved) Overload Spring design.

These are personal observations or differences other have pointed out when we compare CTD's.
The 02 catalog listed several other supposed "improvements" that I can't recall off the top of my head.
Will see if I can find that list.

You'd rather have rear cup holders than rear disk brakes???? Different strokes for different folks.
I don't even know if I have any rear cup holders?

I haven't been able to find much difference from 01.5 to the '02 - they seem pretty darn close. I have an 01.5 w/rear disks, rear cup holders, black antenna, no plastic on tailgate. The only thing it doesn't have I wish it did is rear wheel well liners, but that seems to be a crap shoot as some '02's have 'em and some don't, or maybe its because I'm only a 2WDer

Oh, have to agree with everyone else here 01.5 or 02 would be my choice on a 24Ver.
