Re:Been thinking

I know I will have to hook up the wire. I know how the comp operates when it comes to the wire. With wire unhooked, it acts like an EZ with adjustable fueling levels. With it hooked up, it acts like the Comp with 5 different fueling levels for 5 different power levels. I was asking if I were to hook it up, what would happen. If the fluid looked fine when the guy replaced the sensors (had the comp in there for around 5 months) and there were no shavings or anything in it, then it is holding and the shuddering that I would feel was from the truck starving for fuel. I think I am going to try it this weekend. I'll let yall know.

Class is in everyone, gather round......

[quote author=BFC link=board=4;threadid=6236;start=0#59424 date=1036007568]<br>TDK tested all the settings on a dyno (Dallas dyno dau 2001) WITHOUT the wire hooked up, no difference on 1X5 or 5/5.[/quote]<br><br>Without that pump wire, it don't do a darn thing, I got sheets to prove it. :<br><br>
Even on setting 3. you tranny clock is ticking!
<br><br>Remember this saying because it is the truth. I up-ed my line pressure, and I think it is the only reason why it is not slipping yet. I do drive it kinda hard.......at times......well most of the time......ok ok ok, ALL the time. ;D<br><br>If you run it with the first level on 3, you will blow it after a given amout of time. The equation looks like this....<br><br>B[sub]t[/sub]=L[sub]3[/sub]xT[sub]m[/sub]<br><br>Where B is what is blown, L is the Comp Power level, and T is time. The time is vairable on several keys, how hard you drive it, and line pressure, etc. . What is blown is also dependent, it could be a blown clutch pack, or a lift pump, hence the &quot;[sub]t[/sub]&quot; If you MUST hook up that wire, then I would NEVER go above level 2xANY.<br><br>Of course this means I am just that more tempted to go outside right now, and hook up that little wire. :'(<br><br>Andrew<br><br>P.S. Please do not think this is a real formula, just trying to have a laugh, while explaing something I think is true.

Re:Been thinking

Believe me. I'm ready to hook up the pump wire, but I'm not doing it right now because I'm having some starting problems that I think might be a fueling issue. I don't know for sure, but that's what I'm thinking. If I have a bad inj. pump, then I want to get that taken care of. Once it's done, I'll definately be piercing the wire.

[quote author=BFC link=board=4;threadid=6236;start=0#59424 date=1036007568]I ran mine with the wire hooked up, on 3/5 for about a year before getting the tranny upgraded. Time to time I'd go nuts on the highway and do run on 4 or 5(never from a dead stop). My tranny was slipping after a few months(bad at the end) when we got my TC out of it, it was gun barrel blue! Even on setting 3. you tranny clock is ticking!<br><br>Glenn<br>[/quote]<br><br>Glenn, when it started slipping, was it the bands or the converter clutch that you're talking about?

Re:Been thinking

I dont know what I'll do. I'm getting idle with my truck and the way it runs and looks and sounds and stuff. That's why I'm always messing with it. I'm getting ready to put a lift and 35's on there and some graphics on the side of the truck to break up the solid ocean of blue. Then maybe a ram air hood with color keyed bumpers. That's is if I win the lottery.

Re:Been thinking

After reading the thread on the High Performance forum, I think I may have connected the cover wrong so the comp acted like an EZ even when I had the cover on. I would always screw in the ground set scrwe and ground it to the grid heater. Every time I would install the cover, the check engine light would come on for about 50 miles and then go out. Maybe that's why the EGT's never changed from when it was an EZ and the power and smoke wasn't any difference. I am definately going to try it this weekend and see what happens.
