Back-End Noise

Good morning to all from a snowy newfoundlan.

Over the past few days, the truck has developed a medium frequency noise which appears to be coming from the rear end. This noise is more pronounced in the 50 to 60 kph (30 to 40 mph) speed range. I have just taken the vehicle for a test drive and afterwards checked for any signs of heat but all seams normal.

Any assistance in isolating this problem would be of very much appreciated.

Regards

Check your carrier bearing since you have a QC and long bed. Mine went bad with only 90,000 on it.

As 1999 said, check the center support bearing. If that's OK, pull the diff cover and check the diff carrier bearings.......I had a set go bad and had the same issue as you.

Centre Carrier Bearing

Was underneath the truck today and found some side to side play in the centre carrier bearing. Before anything else, I had better replace this bearing and I might as well repalce the u-joints at the same time.
