Auto Transmisson
01 Dodge 2500 CTD truck won't shift out of low gear unless you let up on the foot feed, then it will shift onto the rest of the gears. I had trouble one time getting it to go into park. It shifted fine before today. Thanks
If your saying won't shift out of 1st, with lever in drive, then....
My guess is Governor Solenoid ..... or Transducer (pressure sensor).
Bad news - The factory parts tend to fail after 100,000 or so.
Good News - These two parts are not expensive (by Dodge standards).... AND are easy to replace at home.
Both parts are on the bottom right (passenger) side of the valve body and only require a small socket set and a T25 Torx bit.
I've seen Governor Soleniods never downshift to first.... or not shift out of a gear (usually 2nd)without releasing pressure, like you mention above.
Trouble with lever going into park... or with tranny shifting into park after the lever reads 'P'??
That sounds like linkage.
