Auto transmission shifts like crap

Hi all

I have a 99 Ram. In my opinion the transmission shifts way too late. It always has right from brand new. It seems that a lot of the engines power is wasted because of it. A couple of years ago it was into the dealer because of other transmission difficulties and they reprogrammed the TCM. The result is that it shifts even later now. I was just wondering if any of you have experienced the same thing? Also is there any data out there that might state at what RPM the transmission should shift from each gear?

Thanks

John

I think that's typical of stock transmissions. The torque converter is a slush box. I don't think there's any fix other than a new converter.

I think if you install a torque converter that has 400rpm lower stall that you will shift earlier like the Mohave green. Is anybody running one of these torque converters or a lower stall converter and can comment on this.

The converter has nothing to do with when the tranny shifts.
