OK, looking for recommendations on auto transmission shops in Central Texas. Bro-in-laws tranny ('99 3500 auto) "died" tonight...his words. Don't have details, he just called at left a message earlier while I was at work, haven't talked to him yet. Going to call him in the morning to get details, just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations that I can pass along to him. He's in Giddings (about midway between Austin and College Station).

In College Station, Oliver brothers transmision. just did mine and did a heck of a job. Giddings is a good bit away. he could have it towed. they did EVERYTHING inside mine, even a temp gauge was added. $1970.

I got a few more details on it today. He said all he has is first gear, won't upshift. They replaced one sensor in the trans last night and that didn't resolve anything. It's in Brenham right now at the Dodge dealer, he knows a mechanic that works over there. Supposed to look into it tomorrow to figure out what's the deal. If were replacing big parts, he wants to go ahead and use better ones to start beefing up the trans for better towing (he's spoiled from having 5-speed manuals all his life).
