Auto Tranny Fluid

Can you mix a quart or so of ATF+3 in with the ATF+4 already in the tranny?

Have had a very small leak for about a year.
Leaking from my temp guage port, just a drip every now and then, never seen any on the driveway, so I didn't know it was even leaking till I pulled my front driveshaft and it was coated in it.

Going to fix the leak tomorrow,
but didn't want to make a special trip to the Dealership just for a quart or 2 of ATF+4,
and all the parts store sells is ATF+3, Dexron III and something else I can't remember what it was.

Bottle says the ATF+3 is for Chrysler Transmissions, and I know previous incarnations of Dodge tranny used it.

Figure I'm about half a quart low, and I'll lose a quart when I pull the temp sensor,
so I bought two quarts of the +3.

I'm thinking it won't be a problem, any naysayers?

Sorry, I got to say its never a good idea to mix different fluids, even different brands. While you may "get away" with it..... why take the risk when you don't have to? IF you were stranded on the side of the road fine, but when you have a choice why risk it?

Just wait until you drive by the plane that has the correct ATF.

1 for.
1 against.

Anyone know what a 1995 Caravan uses in it's auto tranny? or a 2002 Durango?

Might just swing by the Dealership before I tear into it.

On a '95 you can use ATF+3 or Dexron.
Problem with AFT+4 is it is a dealer only item = $$$

Well, I didn't feel like going to the Dealer and spending my hard earned $$, so I jut put the ATF+3 in there.

If it hurts anything, that just means I can get my DTT or ATS or Goerend quicker.

I just had the tranny serviced at the Dealership about 10K ago but the fluid that came out was a nice coffee color, didn't smell though, burnt or otherwise bad.

Think I stopped the leak, I'll go for a drive in a minute to let things heat up and see if it holds, and check the level again.
