atf and diesel fuel
A frend told me today if i put a quart of atf in my tank every time i fill up this will help lube my pump and keep injectors clean. has anyone tried this.I looked on the web and there was one person that highly recomended it .but there was a lot that didnt, but there webpage also sold fuel additives, does anyone have any information on this?
in europe when you take a diesel in for tuneups and such they purge the truck by running a gallon of atf into the engine and have the return back into the gallon container. Diesel engines will run off ATF in 100% pure form rather well. When i was in Iraq because the KTV's would get soot build up once a week when we ran them in the desert we would run atf in the fuel tank to clean the DIRT, and SOOT out of the engine, everytime we did this is would replenish the power the engine was missing.
ATF is NOT designed to be combusted/consumed/burnt.
It does not burn properly, and leaves residue/buildup/and deposits that bounce all around in the engine.
ATF has no place in a fuel tank.
Some select quotes from sites:
Adding motor oil or ATF fluid can increase the sulfur level beyond the EPA limits, and introduce additive metals that cause harmful deposits or increase soot and smoke.
According to the U.S. Army's quarterly fuel and lubricant bulletin (March 1994), laboratory testing using the Ball-on-cylinder lubricity evaluation (BOCLE) had shown that the addition of ATF to a low sulfur fuel does not improve the fuel's lubricity rating. Moreover, the presence of ATF in fuel can adversely affect other performance properties of diesel fuel.

All you got to do is google "add atf" + "diesel fuel" or similar searches.

thanks for the input, the response below i like also because it stated that atf will raise the sulfer content whitch is needed for the new diesel.I also read that when you change the fuel filter, drain and fill up with atf before you start to give a full dose to the pump.I bought a 7.00 can of dieselkleen and it sure feels and looks like atf .
