Are you saying it is the APPs for you?

It happened to me on Friday evening.
Driving down the road at 50 mph, MIL light popped on, accelerator pedal went "dead".
Coasted into a gas station, shut the truck off, keyed on, slowly pressed pedal to the floor and let it slowly return, keyed off, started truck, all's well, drove home.
First time it has happened to me.
Doing a search for dead pedal shows the general consensus is APPS going bad, or VP trouble.
I just put a HRVP on Jan 1 of this year, so I HOPE it's not the pump.

Sounds like APPs, got my fingers crossed for you buddy. I pick up my new one today. 231 plus taxes and such. I would rather be spending the money on a decent tool box.

At $231 you got a whale of a deal.

PM me with the vendor/dealer info.

I've been hearing prices approaching $400 for some folks.

Throw me on that list as well if you don't mind.

PM's have been sent. I will update to let everyone know if they got the right part. Advanced said they had it for 240 but it was a three pin APPs (I think maybe the Automatic APPs, not the Manual).

But I could be getting the Sears discount since I work there and walked in to the store in my Sears Auto center jacket.

I just checked AllData, it only lists a 6 pin for the APPs. Looks like Advance Auto Parts just didnt have there back side and there head wired together.

The holes go counter-clockwise around the plug
1 BK/LB Sensor Ground
2 LG/DB Idle Validation (Not Idle)
3 LB/BK App Sensor Signal
4 BK/YL Sensor Return (APPS)
5 DB/WT 5 Volt Supply
6 BR/OR Idle Validation (Idle)

Just got back from the shop. Wrong part, looks like its wrong in the computer for the parts stores around here. Its the same wrong part that AutoZone wanted to charge me a bit less for.

apps ground

tm the diagram that i have been going buy shows the apps ground as being the #4 black/yellow, and the #3 being the sensor signal and light blue /black.this info also says to run a jumper wire from the #3 to the pcm and to cut the c125 wire k22orange/db that goes from the ecm to the pcm to improve the signal from the apps to the pcm. Did you maybe miss read something.i got this info from a guy on the dtr and i think its a chrysler repair book. if yours is right then i need to redo mine seems to be shifting right etc .i now have a 1693 code which is apps i am told.both of the wiring changes above have helped my truck, but i still have the code but that maybe because the wire from the ecm to the pcm has been cut.

The information I got is from the Service Manual or AllData (basicly the same thing, only AllData is computerized for use in a AutoShop). I can double check tonight on my computer with my service manual that I got for Genos Garage. Code 1693 (if I remember correctly) is the code that says you have a code in the system. the P02XX are the TPS codes and they acutally refer to the APPs. I will double check tonight and reply in the morning.

I think I just figured out the problem. They were looking up the TPS for the 97 model year. I looked it up on AllData and its a TPS and a Three pin connector. I am going to see if its a differant part number for the 99 year for the APPS/TPS.

Side note on DTCs:

P1693 is DTC detected in PCM

I will be calling around again to Advanced and see what they come up with when I order for a 1999 Truck.
