APPS, i think...(nope, most likely VP44)

i believe (i hope) my APPS is biting the dust (and not the VP44). when driving/accelerating my 2001 5sp, the truck will intermittenly quit all of sudden. it quits for maybe a second than comes right back on. usually seems to be the higher rpm (2200rpm +). when its running, the power seems there and consistent but once in a while it just quits.

i pulled the codes and have p1693, p1687, and (slipped my mind, NOT p0216).

also, when the truck quit the first time there is a light on the dash that popped up and remains on. i want to say it looks like a little, yellow outlined injector pump (cant find a pic of it, hopefully try and take one).

fuel pressure is good through the whole RPM range (walbro).

thoughts? is the APPS the right track? going to try the reset procedure after work today...

TIA

Go get a scanner and read all the codes. There's something present that's not showing itself. That should tell you where you're at!

went to the parts store and looked up the codes...p1689 and p0236.

a few days ago i did the key on/off trick and that spit out the p1687 but it didnt show up at the store.

p0236 is an overboost code, but i have a Comp on it so it should have been fooled.

p1689 is no signal between IP and ECM. maybe try to unplug, clean, then plug the harness back in as that wiring harness has been moved around a bit while installing the vulcan fuel line kit. OR just suck it up and get a new HRVP...

truck has 148,000 miles on its original VP44. good for a VP, but bad for me.

my only concern with all of this is if i replace the VP44, will that cure the problem? it SHOULD, but dont know for sure. what if its in the wiring, the harness, the APPS, etc etc

hmmm...p-pump conversion? how about a VE?
