Apps=tps?

Ok so stopped at the local chrystler dealer to day to get air/oil/fuel filter and oil for the new CTD...didn't have it..

anyway just going to order from genos garage and be done with it.

But on to my question. I asked them to look up the price/availability of the APPS sensor..and i got a bunch of strange looks and the parts guy tells me there is no APPS sensor listed anywere...ok great parts guy admits he doesn't know ****. So he asks of of the service reps who says that the TPS and the APPS are the same thing and that Cummins call is APPS and Dodge call is TPS...and that the truck is cable opporated so there is no accelorator pedal position sensor and only a "TPS"...is he giving me a line of bull? Also when the parts guy looked up the TPS he told me there was no part number and just a big blank spot...so i go nothin for them i had been told they SUCK *** but didn't know it was this bad...should have known all they had were libertys/Wranglers and grand cherokes

Anybody have the part number for the APPS or TPS that i can give them so they can look it up. Anybody know of a cummins dealer in CT that i can go to to get someone that actualy knows the engine? thanks

Hey Stew, welcome to the site! You can find the part number for your TPS/APPS in our Tech Facts section. Click on the "parts and part numbers for 24v engines" This will include the appropriate numbers for 12 or 24v engines. I could give you the number if I knew the year of your truck. Please fill in your signature so that we can better help you. If you can't download the file (I think it's PDF format) give me a shout on PM, I can e-mail the file to you as I have it saved in a Microsoft Exel format. This file will give parts numbers for all of the common parts that you might need, filters, lift pumps, sensors, etc.

Hope that this helps.

Cruzer75, The APPS is used with the 24V CTD(maybe with the 12V too, but I wouldn't know) regardless of transmission. The TPS is used along with the APPS if you have an auto tranny. As far as I know they are two seperate sensors.

Click here and you can find a Cummins shop near you.

Sorry, but I don't know any part numbers for the sensors.

Hope this helps.

TPS=Throttle Position Sensor and is found in 12 valve trucks.

APPS= Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor and is found in 24 valve trucks.

TV cable is related to the automatic transmission in partnership with either the TPS or APPS.

Yes, the APPS is quite a chunk of change especially for such a small part.
