Any clutch experts????
Any clutch experts????
I have a quick question, when installing a new clutch do you guy's lubricate any of the pivot points? pivot ball, input shaft where the throw out bearing slides, fork where T.O. bearing sits. or???? any help will be greatly appreciated
Yep same here. I use a thin smear of grease where there's metal-to-metal contact, such as the input shaft splines and where the release bearing rides on the sleeve. Grease isn't recommended on the pivot ball, because the wear surface is plastic, and grease will apparently attack it. It's good to have a new pivot ball on hand too because I see a lot of wear usually on the plastic end.
Thank's everyone, got it in and its working great
. changed the oil in both the tranny and transfer case. Everything went smooth with the exception of dropping the transfer case on my hand
.It's not a good idea to try and bench press it up there while it's still has oil in it!!! oil started pouring on my shoulder and in my panic lost my balance of it and OUCH!! lesson learned. I'm thankful the tranny didn't fall, I suggest a tranny jack to anyone else who has to remove that beast. I had 2 floor jacks which worked but isn't the safest setup. All in all it wasn't a bad 2 day's
. Thank's again for the input, you guy's are the best
