any cb radio experts out there?

im having problems with my cb radio..... .....it seems to recieve messages absolutely fine, however i cannot seem to send messages to others. basically i would say something is wrong with the microphone, however i have replaced the handset(mic) with another of the same brand and does not seem to effect it. Other parties claim that they can hear me "key the mic." but then nothing else. i have pulled the box apart and cannot seem to find any loose fittings, broken parts, etc. with my naked, untrained eye. Are there any common or obvious reasons for this cb to do this. it is a UNIDEN BEARCAT PC68XL

thanks in advance for any comments.

well, my only suggestion would be to pull the microphone apart and see if there is any "gunk" blocking the microphone. I repair telephone systems, much the same thing. every once in a while I would find some un-identifiable substance smeared in the voice tube....
The other popular thing is cords, it could be your mic cord is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Have you set your SWR?

SWR mainly affects transmission, reception would not really be affected by it.

http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs.htm

to find out everything you ever wanted to know about CB's and antennas.

Your right Phox... SWR should show it...

Also check all radio, and ant./whip grounds. Check for good whip connections. Tight & Clean...

It sounds like he has a carrier wave but no audio transmit...
