Cool Another One Bites The Dust

Truck died Sunday on the way home from church. Codes were 0252 0253 1688 1689. Ordered a new VP44 from Midwest Fuel Injection. Truck should be out of the shop on Friday. I had lift pump issues about a month ago and installed a new Airtex. Truck ran great until Sunday. When they go, they go. The ip gave no signs of quitting, just died.

That's the thing i don't like about vp-pumps at least most of the time a p-pump will give you some warning and let you limp home the rare times they do go bad.
I am never as comfortable in my 99 as i am in my older p-pump trucks because i don't trust the vp-44 and the other electronics as much but they do perform fine when they are working.

I'm at the 200K mile mark on my original vp44, thinking about replacing it before being left stranded.

if it goes out it will probably be the injection pump control module. (p1688 and p1689) high mileage failures are usually electronic
