AMSOIL in NV4500

I am having a hard time finding Castrol Syntorq so I started looking for other options. Is anyone running amsoil in their NV4500? If so how is it holding up?

I've found a Pennzoil equivalent for cheaper than the dealer castrol. a few bucks a liter cheaper, off the shelf at the parts store.

I am using Amsoil in my nv 4500. It is okay because it is a GL 4 oil.

I have been using it for a while since they came out with it for the nv4500 and love it and it is hell of a lot cheaper than the castrol,

It's been in mine for about two weeks now, driven daily a little over an hour to and from work. seem to shift a little better, I also installed a temp gauge in one of the pto covers, it runs about 130 to 140degrees, it's been anywhere from 18 to 60degrees outside. never had it installed with the dodge stuff wish i had. I also went with it also because of the GL-4 rating and the price was alittle less than half of the dealer here.

NV4500 lube

I ran Amsoil for about 25K miles but didnt like it because it gave a very stiff feel to shifting . Changed to Pennz Syncromesh synthetic its a GL-4 and its much smoother and quiet . The Syntorq debate has been raging for years . It comes down to GL5 attacking the non-metal synchro rings. If you do a search on Castrol Syntorq you may dig up some of the posts from TDR and corvette owners who also used the NV4500 . Standard Transmission in Dallas sells Syntorq for about $55 gallon. Hope this helps .
