Are all VPs Equal?

Will likely be replacing my VP soon. Are all replacement VPs generally equal, AND where do you recommend purchasing a replacement? Thanks!

No. All VP's are not equal.....but so I understand, all OEM replacement VP's must meet Bosch required specifications. I also thought that only Bosch certified companies can rebuild them, although I'm not totally sure on that. But its very important that whomever you purchase one from, just make sure they guarantee you that their VP has all the newest up to date internals and, most important, that it also has a "brand new" computer too. You dont want a recycled computer. Now the "high performance" or "premium" VP's follow different guidelines and will be specific to the re-builder. Those VP's can offer more HP than an OEM replacement but they can also cost much more money and be less reliable too.

Thanks for the tips/info. So, any other places you recommend (noted Blue Chip Diesel) for the VP?

I thought there was a vendor section that could help you with that question?

IMO, there is none better...

Take a look at the Blue Chip site. It is an educational experience.

i got mine from northeast performance diesel its a little cheaper then blue chip and the guy that owns it used to work at blue chip so he has just as good a pump from blue chip. I have had mine in for a year now with not problems. No matter where you get it make sure it has the updated computer and housing and you should be good.

Agreed.
With the exception of N.E. Perf (which I have never heard of) I would say all VP-44 rebuilds are equal....EXCEPT Blue Chip.
The problem with many rebuilds is the Bosch Test Equiptment. It was defective and not consistant when first put out and I have heard nothing to change thet opinion as of today.
'danalux' - you can go cheaper and change out more often or get a totally refurbished (better than new, due to upgrades) from Chip at Blue Chip!
I have not been on this site a lot lately but I have yet to read of a Blue Chip failure!
