Aced Emissions test !
Aced Emissions test !
Last year I ran good 'ol #2 and ran a 6% opacity on the test. They want ya to floor it to redline and hold it for a few seconds and drop back to idle. repeat a total of six times. This year I've been running the biodiesel more regularly ( instead of Power Service ) and since the bio was 10 cents cheaper than #2 I pulled into the testing station with about a 50% mix. Ran the test and came out with 0% opacity ! ZERO ! And the truck is getting about 1/2 mpg better but that might be because I have better control of the 'ol size 17 with these fuel prices. Didn't pussyfoot the throttle either.
Very impressive.
Unless I used a very different SW number in my Smarty, I wouldn't equal that performance--for sure! On #0 it would probably be fine, but 5 or higher and fuggedaboutit.

Yep, my truck is just about totally stock and the test is pretty easy, but being able to hammer the throttle and not fog out the intersection is good in my book. I'd rather burn the fuel to make the truck move than toss it out and waste it and aggravate the rest of the driving public. My main point was to show how much better bio runs.
Here's how I ace the emissions test with an Edge Ez, disconnect the fueling wire from the Ez and leave the 'boost fooler' map wire connected. With my plugged waste gate it gives them a real clean lots of air opacity test. Just 5 mins of work.
