ABS and Brake Light On

I was driving back from Austin on 290 Sunday and I looked at my dash and the ABS and the parking brake light were both on. It was raining but the tires never locked up or anything. I cycled the key to check for codes but there were no codes whatsoever. The truck still stops good and everything works like it should. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks.

up here in Canada wehre it is allways snow in the winter... when ever I go 4 x Wreckin... those lights allways come on and I was told that they come on because the water or snow will get in between the ABS sensor and it will trip it... All I do is put it in a heated shop for the night and when I come back in the morning it is all good... hope that helps ya...

Thanks. I'm going to clear all code and keep it in a dry place and see what happens. Hopefully it will stop raining down here! Thanks again.

You can take the connectors off the sensors and put some dialectric grease in there to keep them dry.
Something that should be there in the first place, considering where the connectors are,
axles don't tend to stay very dry.

I'm running the same problem on my Mom's 1996 Ram... But the ABS / BRAKE lights blinks on and off randomly while rolling. When you stop the lights stop and go out.

Any Ideas?

Your rear ABS / speed sensor may be on it's way out.. You can try removing it, cleaning it, and spraying the connection with some WD40 & reconnecting everything.. If the same condition repeats - at least you'll know how to R&R the sensor in about 20 minutes!!

sorry....

Thanks!

That was what I was hoping for... I got another message floating out there and being told the light with go out on there own... I figure the lights are try to tell me something has failed or starting to fail...

My Chiltons Book for that year of truck doesn't tell how to diagnose any of the problems just install / replace instructions... So that kinda leaves me in the dark!

I will give that a shot and let you know... Thanks wicked6!!!
