? about smoke
my truck makes no smoke at all, not even a haze. even with the supertuner on hi perf, nothing. don't all diesels produce at least some? i'm not complaining, but, is something not right? my fuel psi is good, so is boost. a guy i work with told me that the engine is just burning the fuel efficiently-hence, no smoke.

I would agree with your friend - no smoke = best, efficient use of fuel.
On the other hand, I have been getting smoke while low in the RPM band after I shift. A short burst of black haze when accelerating. I checked all of the usual culprits; air filter is clean, and I added a little more spring pressure to the TurboMaster. I figure that since it is low in the RPM band it must be a boost issue. I know, I need gauges. Haven't gotten around to that yet (busy time of year). I suspect that if I had a serious boost leak I would have a more pronounced loss of power and more smoke across the board. Mileage hasn't suffered either. No codes either, used KO-KO (X3) and a code scanner.
Any ideas?
