6-speed grinding
I have a 2001 Ram 2500 Cummins H.O. with the 6-speed transmission. I took the truck in a few weeks ago for a transmission fluid change. The shop told me they replaced the original fluid with Red Line MTL. After getting the truck back, the transmission began to grind while shifting into 3rd and 4th gears, only when the truck was cold. After driving around for 5 minutes or so, the grinding stopped. After taking the truck back to the shop, they drained the Red Line MTL fluid, and replaced it with the fluid from the Dodge dealership. When I drove the truck after getting it back, the transmission still grinds. Any suggestions?

No, MTL is the hot ticket!! Either a syncro problem or a pilot bearing hanging up, pretty common problem. Give it a second or 2 between shifts and see what happens. Make sure they filled it up all the way.

Tom, I have heard a number of conflicting reports on the MTL....whether the problems are directly related to the different fluid - who knows??? Im sure MTL is good stuff, but DC seems dead set against anything other than the Syntorque.
