4wd problem
4wd problem
The other day, i let somebody use my truck. There was quite a bit of fresh snow on the ground (about 8 inches, if that matters
) and so they got stuck a little at the end of my driveway. I than saw them stop (assuming they were putting it in 4 wheel) and than they reved it and it spun the back tires fast, about a second later i heard a bery loud grinding. They than tried again putting it in 4x4 and just some very loud grinding noises resulted. BY now, im ****** and running out screaming like someone had just kicked my dog. The 4 wheel has worked perfectly fine before, and now all it does is go into 4 wheel in the transfer case, but the front tires do not spin. Low range also works, but as well, the front tires do not spin. The 4 wheel drive light does not come on, and i have tried from a stop, while coasting, and while driving around 35-40 and i cant get the front wheels to lock in and go. IM guesssing they broke something.. im just looking for some advice on where to start looking for the problem. thanks alot in advance.
im guessing they did not pull the lever hard enough into 4x4, causing it to not engage right away, or they pulled it again while they were peeling out. im not getting much info from her about the situation (yes, her
)

try engageing it while moving it will slip into gear easier, if that doesnt work it sounds like the clutch collar didnt move over the cad, or u might have ground away its splines either way its should be a cheap fix...remove the cad assembly and inspect, if its snoted up make sure u drain the fluid and replace.
