47RE rebuild - shifting issues
Had the trans rebuilt @ 110K miles. HD TC and shift kit installed. First day back on the road it went into "second gear start" mode. Back to shop where they put a resistor on/in somewhere. Solved the problem.
After a couple of weeks it suddenly developed a new issue. This was noted at startup one morning. It now shifts way too early especially on the 2-3 shift. At light throttle settings, especially if you lift a little(like easing away from a light in traffic) the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are virtually one event, BA-Boom! Third gear! It is also very reluctant to kick down into 2nd.
The TC lockup and 3-4 upshift and 4-3 kickdown are normal.
I've had it back to the shop again and they "tweaked a bracket" and told me to try it. No change except that it seems even more reluctant to kick down to 2nd.
I really feel this is a solenoid/sensor/something failure but this is really out of my field. Help!

You need to talk to Tim Holt. He is the best tranny guy around.

Whose HD TC?
General rule of thumb is not to just do an after market, 'tight' TC w/o also doing a valve body. Factory TC should, of course, work well.
My tranny has never willingly downshifted to second. It will go into 1st (from third) if I get below 12 mph. Any downshift below 20 mph, from adding throttle, usually goes to first, than quickly to second.
