Truck has been running fine. Stopped at a store came out took off like normal. First gear second gear but no third. Then it seemed like in neutral. Second gear working then it started acting like in neutral first gear only now. Stopped checked fluid level and color looked good. Took off first and second but no third second would go out but stop for a minute or two and second would work. Codes shown are 522 and 523 which are oil pressure sensor over and under voltage which has been an issue for about 1000 miles just have t got around to changing it out yet. also 0500 which has come a few times over the years as well as the 1693 companion code. So no trans related codes. Limped back to where I am staying which is about 15 miles from either mancos or Cortez Colorado am out in the sticks and 400 miles from home and my local trusted mechanics


Any thoughts on issue. Any help much appreciated. Sorry for poor grammar and structure only have phone here and typing on it is not my forte

 

Guy I worked with had a Ram/Cummins that he turned up the power on, but did nothing to the transmission. On a dyno, he learned that he was pushing about 400 HP at the rear wheels. Told me about how he ended up buying a new transmission, and it sounds exactly like what yours is doing.

Said he was driving around, and when it was time for the 3rd gear shift, nothing, said it felt like neutral. Upon disassembling the transmission, he found no clutch material left on the shifting parts for third gear, with noticeable wear on the other clutch packs in his transmission.

How much power is your engine making?

 

Mine did the same except in 2nd gear. Upon teardown, there was no clutch left. Good luck!

 

Had something similar with a stock 47RE- it turned out that the filter bolts had shaken loose.
The trans did not get fluid under certain conditions. (Turn, acceleration)

 

What are your thoughts on tranny rebuild time?? Sounds like front clutch pack is worn.
