You can go to a Dodge dealer and get it activated. I had to shop around a bit to find one that would activate it on my 6 speed. A lot of dealers will only do it for the autos. Took the guy about 5 minutes and works great.

You can also borrow a smarty programmer and that will activate it in the ecm. I have only had the 3 cyl idle happen a few times and it sure is weird sounding.

Is there a specific thing you have to ask them about it? I've been to like 5 diff. dealers, even one that just sells trucks, and noone has heard of it.

Find someone local to you with a Smarty; buy them lunch or a beer and have them program your truck... you'll get high idle and 3 cylinder high idle...

Click here. Print out the TSB. Hand TSB to the Service Writer and tell them you want the procedure done to your truck. My dealer never heard of it before either, but with the TSB in hand, I had the flash done in a few minutes.

Yep, that's what I did as well. I couldn't find the TSB yesterday to post it.

if u have the TSB the dealer will do it. As stated a smarty will do it also but be warned once its downloaded to your rig you cant uninstall it with the Smarty as I found out the hard way, I need to go to a dealer to un-install it as it 3cyl high comes on all the time.

If you have an automatic, any dealer should do it. Some won't activate it if you have a manual tranny.

This is one reason why I avoid dealers--most of them are terrible to work with, and some can't even spell TSB.

Why would the type of tranny have anything to do with it? I have a stick and the high/3-cyl idle works just dandy on my truck. I'm not saying there couldn't be something I'm unaware of, I just can't imagine why a manual tranny would cause any issue with it.

I think the issue is cause they are afraid the truck will be left in gear and cause it to drive off which is stupid , just take it out of gear

Will this work with say a Quadzilla Adrenaline installed on the truck? I know I get high idle if its on 0, but never had 3 cyl, even at -12 degrees.

Do you have a sensor that is not functioning properly?

Can you make the 3 cylinder work at 25* instead of 0*? I got the high idle installed with my buddies smarty. The high idle came on at 25*. I wish the 3 cylinder would work at that temp. Or maybe there is a reason it waits till 0*. I know the truck didnt warm up with just the high idle at 25*. Maybe its just a dumb question. I'm sure someone will educate me.. Thanks!
