3 Cylinder high idle?

Hi,

I am a little confused, do the 2000's have a 3 cyl idle? Last few starts have been cold, about 5*F, had no power to plug in last time. Awful noises from power steering and maybe brake booster.

Anyway, it will idle at about 900rpm, that's not the high idle is it?

And will I know if it's on 3cyl?

Thanks!

You have to have the latest DC updates. You need someone to load a smarty on your truck then take it off (Free Usually) or take it to a dealer ($$$$????)

3 cyl idle is about 1200, and there is no mistake of the sound. especially with a straight pipe.

3 cyl idle TSB 18-019-1
It is "3 cylinder enable"
There is a HI idle feature, I think it is on 3rd gen where using the cruse control it is possible to increase the idle speed.
This is from memory from a guy that hides his own easter eggs.

Thanks a lot! So as I understand it, the truck is capable of doing it, only I need to get it "unlocked" by a dealer or someone with a Smarty?

Anyone close to Golden, CO with a Smarty? There would be food or beverage payment!

Thanks a lot guys, I'll get on it! Did I read it that there is more involved for manuals than just turning it on?

on 2nd gens there is no "turning it on" per se it is controlled by the ECM. Only 3rd gens can activate it at any time

Don't mean to hijack this, the high idle/3 cyl. will work with a standard tranny as long as the ebrake is on? and you don't have to turn the cruise on it will just rev itself up? the dealership told me I'd need a $400 switch on the clutch to make it work after they upload the info is this right? thanks- Chris

On a 2nd gen a manual just has to be in neutral. On a 3rd gen you have to use a jumper. What year truck do you have?

It's cool Cheney, that's sort of what I was asking, thought I heard the manuals need more than a software change. Anyone had it done at a dealer and know the price?
