If your resetting it and it keeps coming back - it sounds very much like its VP-44 time. Dont forget to install a fuel pressure guage so you can keep na eye on your fuel pressure and save your next VP-44.

You could install a fuel pressure guage now - but its likely too late for that.

Wish I had better news for you.

well, your fuel pressure seems fine.

How often does the code come back?

P0216 is injector circuit malfunction. There is NO turning back the clock. You need a new VP44. This is an electronic failure, not mechanical. You can get by for a while with the dead pedal, but sooner or later you WILL be stranded somewhere.

P0216 Fuel Injection Pump Timing Failure.
High fuel supply restriction, low fuel pressure or possible wrong or incorrectly installed pump keyway.

Wow, some low miles for the year. Sorry, you need a Vp-44. The electronics are much better now. I am close to 300k on my 2nd Vp.

I have read on CF that one owner had the 216 code, and he replaced the IAT sensor, he reported it fixed his problem, i am not saying you don't need a VP but it is only about $50 for a shot in the dark.

It's hard for me to immagine the AIT throwing a 216, but according to Blue Chip (who's pump I'd personally buy) the 216 is not the code of death it's claimed to be. I don't know why they say that and what the 216 can otherwise be, but were it me, I'd do some more homework.

Check all the easy stuff, though. Some attention to the plugs can't hurt. Fuel filter is cheap, and you probably have two-OE and the Airdog.

A sticky actuator, or sticky injector could probably cause those symptoms. Fuel system cleaner is a long shot, but a very cheap one. Getting any white smoke?

yes i do have dead pedel but only notice when the engine is cold and trying to take (most times not all the time) off no matter where you hold or push pedel for aprox. 15-25 seconds on cold start i have white smoke which is getting worse after engine is at run temp. i have up and down rpm and engine cuts off when put in foward or rev.until you press fuel pedal slightly as you put in gear fuel milage is around 12-13.5 mpg highway i have 410 gears and it is 4wd sorry for long post just trying to make the wise decision and thanks again for all the good help

So you have an edge ez, should say on it somewhere. REMOVE IT. It's very likely that's your problem.
