I am trying to get my cruise working on a 1998.5 5 spd after transplanting a 2002 powertrain, I believe the 2002 had electronic cruise, I am using the 1998.5 PCM and believe the old vacuum cruise should work but something is not right as the cruise does not power up? If you have any expertise on this subject or a PDF 2002 manual and I have PDF's of 2001, 2003 and 2004 to trade?

 

I believe the cruise control is the same thru 02, ie the vacuum type.

However I could be wrong because the APPS issue I had went away with the cruise on.

Maybe try asking the WADTR#25 chapter guys in their section to see if a local guy has one available.

 

My understanding is that 2001.5 and up had electronic cruise in the standard transmission models

 

Its a good possibility, since it hasn't given me any trouble I haven't had to mess with it!!

Hopefully somebody can get you the 02 manual.

 

if the pedal goes to the idle position when the cruise is on and does not move then you have the electronic cruise

 

My pedal moves to accelerate/decelerate and holds position when steady speed.
