Unhappy 2002 Automatic Transmission Identification

Hello All,

I need a little help identifying my 4-speed automatic transmission if you please.
The transmission is a 4-speed automatic and according to the service manual the body code plate should have one of the following 3 digits in line 4; DGP=47RE, DGT=46RE and DGK=42RE. None of these are in line 4 or any of the other lines.
I crawled underneath the transmission and recorded the following information;
Standing in front of the engine, on the left hand side of the transmission there is a SKU. This SKU reads; 52118 158 301200 1 A6 B2 11/13/01 12:28

Standing in front of the engine, on the right hand side of the transmission there is a SKU.
This SKU reads at the top; TPKTKO102F1897
At the bottom of the SKU, it reads; P52119851AB

Standing in front of the engine, on the right hand side of the transmission there are some numbers stamped into the case of the transmission. They read; P52119851AB 0102 1697

I did this a couple of minutes ago in the rain and mud, at night with a flashlight. I tried to be as accurate as possible, but there could be some mistakes given the conditions. Any body out there have a clue as to what model the transmission is? It is a 2002 truck with no modifications, Thanks.
My Best, Greg

You have the 47RE auto. I have a 2002 auto myself. These trannies are weak. They cant even handle a stock engine! But with the right rebuild you can have a very tough tranny. My tranny is still stock but it will give up soon as the bombin' bug got me.

Hello MY02CTD,

I have heard & read the same thing as you and I am also planning to upgrade it. I wanted to be sure I knew what model I was dealing with so I can start looking around. I plan on towing 10,000 pounds with it.
Curious, how did you know it was a 47RE? I really tried to do this on my own, but could not figure it out. Thanks for the help!

My Best, Greg
