2001 manual transmission stuck???
2001 manual transmission stuck???
My dad has a 2001 3500 with the 5 speed. After camping last weekend he went to move the truck and it seemed like it was stuck in 2 gears at once he said. Nothing he did made a difference until (and this is weird) he looked under the hood and found a relay marked trans something or other. He replaced that relay and the transmission began shifting normally and he came home.
Any idea if there is something electrical in a manual transmission that would keep gears locked? Like a safety switch or a neutral start switch or something?

There is nothing connected to the transmission that would do that from a relay. An aftermarket PTO could, pretty rare though.
Was the shifter stuck or was the driveline somehow stuck? Sounds more like a coincidence. Would it not shift while running, because that's classic sample of either a warped pressure plate/flywheel, slave cylinder problem etc. Won't shift very well if the clutch won't disengage completely.
