2001 3500 6 speed salve cylinder bleeding procedure
Just purchased a 2001 Dodge 3500. The previous owner installed a new throwout bearing in it. When it was installed he said he did not bleed the system because it was pre bled unit. After driving the truck the clutch pedal moves half travel without any resistance. After i pump it up a few times it works fine. I see the slave cylinder on the side of the trans. what is the bleeding procedure to do this. I think this will fix it, has anyone else had any similar issues. Or could this issue be something else.
Thanks

There is no specific procedure to bleed the master and slave clutch cylinders and probably because its next to impossible and if attempted, it should be done on a bench. Also even though you can buy them separately from the local parts store for something like $60-$80 apiece, dont bother. Buy them from the dealer as a pre bled set for about $200 or buy an upgraded set from Southbend or Valair for around $300. I hear Valair is cheaper than Southbend too.

Agreed. I've never had luck trying to bleed them. You might try pumping it a million times with the cap off and then let it sit overnight with the cap off and hope a little air bubble works it's way to the surface......... It's worth a try. I think you can get one from Dan at Valair for around $250. And that will be an adjustable HD unit.
