............2 cycle oil.......

.........Hi there, i see that more than a few ppl add 1 quart/litre to a tank of fuel.......i know that this will lube the vp, but is it not degrading the diesel fuel as it has an oily texture to it already......or are there other benifits as well?.....would atf accomplish the same purpose?.....thanks.......kim.....

A lot of guys swear it adds lubricity to rather "dry" ULSD fuel.

Personally I run Power Service white bottle, as it also adds some cetane number boost.

Pluses to 2-stroke is you can find it just about everywhere and I noticed it seems to lower the clacking coming from my IP.

Some guys run ATF but that is another can of worms altogether. Personally I wouldn't run it in my truck.

If you search "fuel additives" you will find some interesting reading on what actually is best to use derived from real lab work.

run 2 cycle or another lub..
diesel lost is lub properties when it was changed to ULSD..look it up..
it closer to water for lub properties.
biodiesel is one of the best if you can find it and trust the source.

ATF is old school..read up on it before using it. biodiesel is better at cleaning injectors than ATF or power service.

biodiesel has poor cold weather properties..the colder the more its sucks..of course the 'cold' temp depends on the blend of oils used to make biodiesel.

its my experience that biodiesel is a great solvent..for all kinds of things..sometimes good sometimes not..

My truck also seemed a lot quieter when I ran a 1/2 tank of bio, however I stopped doing that when I read it could ruin rubber fuel lines.

I ran 2 stroke about a month ago and had a slight drop in fuel pressure from 17 at idle and 12 wot to 12 at idle and 7 wot. I ended up changing my main fuel filter on a recent trip with trailer to las vegas in peggy sue parking lot. I think the 2 stroke plugged up my filter.

Coach, 2 stroke oil doesn't plug filters--you need some kind of particulate matter to do that. Biodiesel has the reputation for plugging filters, but that's because it's a wonderful solvent and loosens up a lot of crud. 2 cycle doesn't act like that, so it's possible you might've just got some sediment in your last fill-up.
