1998.5 24Valve speedo porblem

I just got a truck and the speedo doenst work its a manual trans and I know the speedo sensor is in the diff is this common what does it take to replace thanks

It just bolts in the top of the housing. Is your ABS light on too? When mine went out the ABS light was on and the speedo went crazy. You might check all the wireing too.

yes the ABS light is on to I wonder if maybe just the sensor is bad? the under side is greasy so maybe something is shorted out

Pull and clean it- or even better- pull rear diff cover, clean out diff housing and clean sensor from the inside. It might just have a "beard" of shavings. (By doing this you do a rear diff oil change too)

I am sure that Alpine is correct in Europe, but here where getting the part means running down to the dealer, go get the sensor and ten minutes installs it.... speedo fixed!
