19.5" Single 2500 wheel options
Hey all,
I'm looking at getting 19.5" wheels for the truck in my sig.
There are 3 options:
My question is, do you guys have real world experience with any of these wheels along with some pros and cons?
All input is appreciated.
Thanks!

- Vision 81 with 0 offset, cast wheel, 4500#
- Rickson with 1.41" offset, machined wheel, 5000#
- GM steel disc wheels that need to be machined to fit the hub, 4500#

I looked at the Ricksons, but the cost of shipping to AK on top of the cost of rims and tires would've made it waaay too expensive for me.
If I was in the lower 48 and found a set of used ones in good shape, I'd take a serious look at them.

I have used both the Rickson 19.5 and Vision type 81 wheels. The Rickson wheels were purchased in the first year they were available, (1999?) and were made of steel. These wheels were a bad experience. They were 6.5” wide x 19.5 diameter and were not round. I tried 245/70-19.5 Bridgestone tires that vibrated because on the oval wheels. After wearing out those tires I tried 225/70 Michelins and they was slightly less vibration. Rickson was not interested in fixing the problem after calling them. Their aluminum wheels are probably better than the steel ones I had.
The Vision type 81 wheels with zero offset work great on my 1998.5 2500 with 245/70-19.5 Hankook DH01 Super Traction tires. The tires extend about 1” out from the fenders but the tread is totally inside the fender. The aluminum wheels are round and hold air where the two piece Rickson wheels leaked at the center seem.

I ended up getting a set of Vision HH 81 with Continental HDR tires size 225/70-19.5. I went with this size in case I need to use my stock spare for some reason. I do like them and I am glad I did the upgrade.
