02 gearing change
I've got an 02 (4 wheel drive) with the auto transmission and the 4.10 gears. Due to the fact that i rarely pull a trailer over 6/7k pounds, and drive on high speed roads most of the time, im looking to go to the 3.54 gears. A couple of questions i had was, can i do this by just buying the ring and pinion from online, along with the instal kit? i noticed there was multiple install kits, one being the basic, one including the bearings, and one called the master install kit, im not sure which would be needed. i have an experienced friend with work like this so i wont be sending it to a shop to get done. Another question i had was will the truck still have the same type of limited slip/posi that it was now? im not sure how to check which it has, although i know i am getting the slight binding from the rear when i turn very sharp on pavement, which ive heard is from having posi?, rather than just limited slip. Any input would be great, thanks.

I had a 4.10 automatic as well as I now have a 3.54 5 speed. It will be more then 1500 before your done you may need different carriers as well.If you have the stock size tire id just go up a size or two in tallness. You will be money ahead.I sure miss my 4.10 truck I had 35s on it it was a perfect combo. Aaron
